Bonaire update

Hello! Let’s start this blog post with a smiley pink picture…as yesterday one of my best friends gave birth to a little baby girl called Maxi!  I’m so happy but also sad I am not in Holland to see this sweet girl, so instead of going on a baby visit I thought I go out for a freestyle session in pink 😉

With my original ticket I would have been back in Holland already, but I decided to change my plans and stay a bit longer so I can participate in the Curacao Challenge and Sorobon Masters this month. Very excited for these events! You can find out more about Sorobon Masters at www.sorobonmasters.com. The Curacao Challenge will be from 14 till 17th of May and the Sorobon Masters will be at the 22nd till the 25th of May, and the day after the event I will fly back to Holland.

Time is flying here in Bonaire. The wind is pretty consistent, the few days there is no wind is most of the time a good thing as it gives me and my body some forced rest! I have been doing yoga every day here so far, for me it feels so much better doing this next to the windsurfing as it keeps my body more flexible although I definitely struggle with improving my flexibility while windsurfing a lot. Another reason why I have practice every day is because I’m joining three yoga instructors with a yoga show during the Sorobon Masters. Of course all three of them are way better then me so if I don’t want to mess up this great show I have to continue practicing this month 😉

My parents have been visiting me, and it was great to show them around the island and even better was to sail together with them. My dad was so close to land a vulcan and my mom was sailing for hours nailing all her jibes. They really loved the place and I’m sure they will come back here one day. 01288_GFwindsurfing with my parents

After a week it was time to say goodbye again, which is always sad, but there are so many friends of me out here and it’s always great fun sailing and training with everybody. I’m still staying at Sorobon, which is so perfect for my training as I live right at the beach.

I’m very much enjoying sailing lately, it feels like I make quite a bit of progression and with the conditions being different from time to time I’m practicing different types of moves. Compared to Cape Town it’s so much easier here to learn a new move with the flat water and consistent winds.
