Alacati 2022

The windsurf clinic in Alacati has been an incredible week!

Alacati showed us why it’s such a famous windsurf spot by delivering solid wind every day.

Every morning we woke up at beautiful Zeytin Hotel with a delicious and healthy breakfast waiting for us in the calm garden of the hotel. Around 9:30 the taxi was waiting for us to bring us to the beach with little stop at the supermarket for some water and snacks.

Arriving at Bubi Surf School we always started with some theory, the group divided with some being taught by me and some by Korhan – a very experienced windsurfer + teacher and also the manager of the school. Everyone would pick their gear of choice for the morning session, and with help of the incredible staff everyone was be on the water in no time.

After a long morning session we would take a lunch break and a break from the sun. Often we went to one of the nice lunch restaurants on the beach. A nice view, good food and a good price.

In the afternoon most people would continue what they were practising in the morning, or when the wind changes we would focus on another goal. After the 2nd session the taxi would bring us back to the hotel. Time to have a shower, take a dive in the swimming pool or have a cold beer.

Some afternoons we would finish off the day with a relaxing yoga session in the garden of  the hotel to stretch out the tired muscles from being on the water all day long, for whoever wanted.

Some evenings I organised a dinner at a special restaurant, some hidden gems that I wanted to share. Seafood, lots of veggies, mezzes. Other evenings people would walk in to town on their own or with another participant to have some food in one of the cozy streets of Alacati.

Although hands started to hurt at one point (and the rest of the body too) everyone could not get enough of it!

Everyone was amazed by the beauty of Alacati and the friendliness of the local people. I can write it down, I can tell people, but until they see it they can’t imagine what it’s really like.
